Description
This is a beautiful 18k solid gold ring set with an incredible royal purple garnet from a relatively new mine in Mozambique. There are a few other finds of purple garnet in the region including mines in Tanzania but they tend to have a slightly reddish undertone. This is some of the highest grade purple from the Tetra Mine in Mozambique (which produced the finest of the purple garnet) with deep purple color that is not too dark and has no reddish undertone. I would put this material up against some of the nicest purple sapphire for it color and brightness. Like all of our gemstones, this one is completely natural and has not been enhanced or treated in any way.
The ring design is based on Balinese designs with intricate granulation around the bezel and some extra detail on the four ordinal points of the setting. At its widest point it is approx. 13/16” wide (at the front – top to bottom) and the band is approx. 1/8” at the back.
