Description
This is a beautiful Peruvian Blue Opal pendant with sterling silver base and 18k gold setting. The gem material was mined more than 30 years ago from a small short-lived find in the Andean foothills. Most of the material that came out of these mines is opaque and at best translucent with inclusions of other minerals making it unusable for high quality jewelry. This stone is higher quality with really nice light blue color.
Note the “crown” detail I have added around the bezel. This is really an interesting piece and a great buy at this price.
I would call this a medium-sized to larger pendant and it is approximately 1 1/8” in diameter (without the bale). See photo with older U.S. dime for size/scale.
Chain and coins shown in photos not included with item. It is pictured with an oxidized or antiqued silver chain which goes well with the oxidized finish on the pendant back plate. I think it looks great with this chain but gold chains would also look nice picking up the gold from the bezel setting.
To see available chains please see “Chains” on Shop tab or contact ARJ for availability of sterling silver chains.
