Description
This is a beautiful sugilite and 18k solid gold pendant. The gemstone is a lighter purple with undertones of pink in it. Top grade material like this is generally referred to as “gel”. It is cut into a high-dome cabochon giving the piece a rich look and feel.
Sugilite came primarily from one mine in South Africa but that mine is no longer producing. Material like this is just not available anymore unless purchased out of someone’s collection.
The gold work is simple yet elegant with a single row of tiny gold balls around the bezel. I have added a cross bar to the design that is reminiscent of an old sailing ship’s anchor. The bale has some extra detail with a row of gold balls around the circumference. It is a smaller sized pendant that is approximately 1/2” wide and 1” tall (including the bale). See photo with older U.S. dime for size/scale.
Chain shown in photos not included with item. To see available chains please see “Chains” on Shop tab.
