Description
This is a beautiful wide-band 22k solid gold ring with a large natural ruby. The design is based on ancient Etruscan ring designs. The Etruscans pre-dated the Romans in what is now southern Italy. I like this design because it has a lot of intricate granulation especially on the band. This is a really substantial piece with more than 12.5 grams of 22k gold.
The ruby in this ring comes from the Winza mine in Tanzania and is completely natural (unheated and not glass filled). It has saturated red color and is super bright even in subdued light with excellent clarity. There are a few minor imperfections (mostly veils beneath the surface) which is common for natural untreated ruby.
The ring at its widest point is approx. 5/8” wide (at the front – measured from top to bottom) and the band is approx. 3/8” at the back. (See photo with older U.S. dime for size/scale.)
This is considered a wide-band ring so you might consider sizing based on rings you wear that are comparable.
