Description
This is a beautiful 18k solid gold ring with a large natural purple sapphire. The design is based on ancient Etruscan ring designs. The Etruscans pre-dated the Romans in what is now southern Italy. I like this design because it has a lot of intricate granulation and twisted wire details.
This sapphire comes from the Umba Valley in Tanzania and is completely natural (unheated). It has deep-purple color and is highly transparent and glassy. There are no visible flaws or inclusions which is rare for sapphire.
The ring at its widest point is a little over 1/2” wide (at the front – top to bottom) and the band tapers to approx. 1/4” at the back. This is considered a wide-band ring so you might consider sizing based on rings you wear that are comparable.
