Description
This is a beautiful wide-band 18k solid gold ring. The design is based on ancient Etruscan ring designs. The Etruscans pre-dated the Romans in what is now southern Italy. I like this design because it has a lot of intricate granulation and decorative wire details.
The gemstone is a natural (un-heated and not glass filled) dark pink sapphire from the Winza mine in Tanzania. It has beautiful deep-pink color (almost red) and is glassy and bright. Like most natural sapphires it has a few minor imperfection (veils) beneath the surface. Nonetheless, it has great color and is a large gemstone at 1.7 cts.
The ring at its widest point is approx. 9/16” wide (at the front – measured from top to bottom) and the band tapers to approx. 3/8” at the back. (See photo with older U.S. dime for size/scale.)
This is considered a wide-band ring so you might consider sizing based on rings you wear that are comparable.
