Description
This is a gorgeous 3-stone 22k solid gold ring. The design is an interpretation of ancient Etruscan styles with highly detailed band.
The center stone is a medium orange Mexican fire opal that looks like it was spilled from a glass of orange soda. It is bright and glassy with no visible imperfections. The side stones are Royal Purple Garnet from a new mine in Mozambique. There are a few other finds of purple garnet in the region including mines in neighboring Tanzania but they tend to have a slightly reddish undertone. This perfectly matched pair of accent stones is some of the highest grade purple from the Tetra Mine in Mozambique (which produced the finest of the purple garnet) with deep purple color that is not too dark and has no reddish undertone. I would put this material up against some of the nicest purple sapphire for it color and brightness.
The ring at its widest point is approx. 5/16” wide (at the front) and the band is just over ¼” at the back. It is a medium weight ring weighing just a hair under 9.5 grams.
